People often come to counseling to address issues like life transitions, to pursue personal growth, to improve relationships, or to seek relief from symptoms such as stress, depression, anxiety, anger, trauma/PTSD, relationship issues, and more.
There is no right or wrong time to seek counseling. If you are feeling overwhelmed, are struggling, or just looking for support and guidance, it may be time to consider seeking counseling. It's important to remember that pursuing counseling is a personal choice and a sign of strength, and that seeking help is a positive step towards improving your well-being.
At 180 Counseling, we take clients beyond traditional talk therapy. While talk therapy can increase insight about issues and is an important part of the therapeutic process, it isn't always enough to help clients experience the healing and life change they desire.
Our therapists are diversely trained in traditional therapies but also use neuroscience-based therapies, such as EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and other modalities. These therapies help most clients experience resolution and relief without having to repeatedly talk about their painful life experiences or feel re-traumatized by reliving them.
Our approach goes beyond traditional therapeutic interventions, allowing clients to experience positive results more quickly, with less pain. Healing pain at the source allows clients to naturally change how they see themselves and how they experience and interact with others, which leads to a more fulfilling life.
The first step is a brief, 15 minute consultation call where we can learn more about you and why you are seeking counseling. We want to make sure we are the right therapists for you and that our expertise aligns with your goals. We'll be happy to answer your questions and address your concerns. If we determine we're not the best fit, we'll recommend other counselors or resources that might suit you better. If we agree to move forward together, we'll schedule your initial intake appointment.
You'll be invited to set up a password on our client portal. Once you access the portal, you'll find intake paperwork to complete online at least 24 hour prior to your initial session, which is the next step.
The initial intake session takes about an hour, and is an opportunity for you to get to know the therapist and to determine if they are the right fit for you. It's also a chance for the therapist to learn about you and to start developing a treatment plan that will meet your specific needs and goals.
During this session, the therapist will ask questions to get to know you and understand your concerns. Your therapist will ask you about your background, current life situation, and the reasons you are seeking therapy. If you are experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or other issues, we will ask about the nature and severity of those symptoms.
Based on the information gathered during the session, your therapist will help you set goals you hope to achieve through counseling. Your therapist will also address any concerns or answer any questions you might have.
Everyone is unique, so it is difficult to say how long any client chooses to remain in counseling. It is up to you how frequently you and your therapist meet, though we typically recommend meeting every week or every other week, at least initially, so that you can experience some relief from your symptoms as soon as possible. We also recommend making recurring appointments, if your schedule permits, to secure your spot on the therapists' calendar and assure you can be seen as often as you prefer.
Our standard session rate is $140 per hour for either an intake session or a therapy session. We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards as well as most major HSA debit cards.
We do not accept insurance, but can provide a "superbill" which you can submit to your insurance company to seek reimbursement. We recommend that you call the number on the back of your card first, and inquire about your "out-of-network" benefits to see if your insurance company will provide reimbursement for counseling services.
